
Povlja, Brač
Povlja is a small town, with only three hundred population on the island Brac, which is surely one of the most beautiful ones on our coast, an untouched pearl of the Adriatic sea.
The majority of islanders in both Povlja and Brac in general are occupied with olives, wines and fishing.
Crystal clear and clean seawater, fresh air, countless bays and long promenades and walking paths along the sea make Povlja an ideal holiday resort for a relaxing vacation on island Brac.

Location

Povlja is settlement on north coast of island Brac, located in region of Central Dalmatia, Croatia. Povlja is located 10 km north of Sumartin and 40 km east of Supetar. It is only 100 km away from the second biggest and well known city in Croatia: Split.
The
History
If you are a lover of history and culture, Povlja has much to offer, which is surprise due to its size. There is partly preserved Early Christian basilica built between fifth and sixth century in the village. Preserved octagonal baptistery with a cupola of the same period is an integral part of the Parish Church of Saint John and is the only facility of this kind preserved in Croatia. In the baptistery, there are some very valuable frescoes from the same period.
Povlja have a very long history and the most important what is left of it are Povlje’s documents written in Cyrillic letter. Tall tower built to defend against Turkish attacks is also interesting thing to see in Povlja on the island of Brač in Croatia, especially if you are history lover.

How to get here
You can get to Povlja by airplane to airport Brac or to airport Split and then take ferry, private boat transfers or catamaran Split-Supetar or Makarska-Sumartin. From Supetar to Povlja you can get by car or bus.
You can also come to Povlja by group or private boat excursions from Split or island Hvar. There is also a possibility of boat rentals for your private trips, cruises and water activities.

Climate
The climate in Povlja is Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters and the average annual temperature is 16,5° C. July is the hottest month with an average temperature of 28° C, and January is the coldest month.
